Gustave Fraipont
Gustave Mathieu Joseph Fraipont, urodzony w Saint-Josse-ten-Noode 9 maja 1849 roku i zmarły w Paris 6e 29 kwietnia 1923 roku, był francuskim malarzem, rzeźbiarzem, ilustratorem i plakacistą belgijskiego pochodzenia.
Gustave Fraipont był uczniem Henri Hendrickx i Henri de Hern. Z pochodzenia Belg, został naturalizowanym obywatelem Francji po wojnie w 1870 roku, podczas której zaciągnął się do armii francuskiej. Był nauczycielem rysunku w szkole Legii Honorowej i autorem licznych prac na temat technik rysunkowych. W 1885 roku wykonał ilustracje do serii Le Littoral de la France opublikowanej przez Victora Palmé. Ilustrował również książki o Paryżu i regionach Francji.
Współpracował z wieloma gazetami i czasopismami, w tym Courrier français i Paris illustré. Był jednym z członków-założycieli Société des artistes lithographes français (1884). W 1905 roku został mianowany malarzem marynarki wojennej.
Podczas I wojny światowej stworzył szereg kompozycji dla gazety L'Illustration, zwłaszcza na pomnikach zniszczonych przez wojnę: halach Ypres, katedrze w Rheims i ratuszu w Arras. W 1917 r. został poproszony przez Banque de France o zaprojektowanie nowego banknotu 20-frankowego, ale jego projekt został odrzucony.
